About the Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office
 
The Chief Data and Artificial Intelligence Office (CDAO) mission is to accelerate the adoption of data, analytics, and artificial intelligence (AI) across the Department of Defense (DoD). The CDAO works across the Military Departments and Services, Joint Staff, Combatant Commands (CCMD), Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), and other DoD Components to design, develop, field, and scale technologies, capabilities, strategies, policies, and other guidance related to data, analytics, and AI in support of DoD's warfighting and business functions, including responding to crises and emerging challenges with state of the art digital solutions.

The mission of the CDAO Acquisitions Directorate is to provide rapid, effective and efficient acquisition support to CDAO and Joint Warfighters. In order to provide rapid, effective and efficient acquisition support to CDAO, the Department, and the Combatant Commands, CDAO Acquisition Directorate is focused on three primary functions: procurement, program execution; and program analysis.
 
As the Principal Director of Acquisition Management within the CDAO, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the acquisition strategy, processes, policies, and programs in accordance with federal regulations, DoD policies, and program management principles. Your primary focus will be on planning, executing, and evaluating acquisition strategies for various CDAO programs and projects.
 
This position is in the Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It is being recruited under 10 U.S.C. 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system. This position is a Supervisory, GG-0301-15.

What you'll do here:

  • Partner with the Acquisition Director to develop and implement the Directorate’s strategic acquisition vision, goals, and objectives.
  • Conduct comprehensive analysis of current and emerging acquisition trends, technologies, and best practices to inform strategic planning.
  • Represent the Directorate in high-level discussions and briefings with senior DoD leadership, industry partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Directorate, ensuring efficient and effective execution of acquisition programs and projects. Ensure compliance with all applicable federal acquisition regulations (FAR) and DoD acquisition policy.
  • Supervise and mentor Directorate staff, providing guidance and support on acquisition processes, policies, and regulations.
  • Provide expert advice and counsel to the Acquisition Director on all aspects of the acquisition lifecycle, from requirements definition through capability delivery.
  • Lead and/or participate in acquisition program reviews, audits, and assessments.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Clearly and concisely communicate complex acquisition information to both a technical and non-technical audience.
  • Manage and disseminate acquisition-related information within the directorate and across the DoD.
