About the role
We’re looking for an exceptional engineer to lead the overall X Ads engineering organization and build the next generation Ads Platform at X. The person in this role will re-envision and re-build our Ads Platform and products using xAI’s cutting edge AI and Infra, dramatically improving the core advertising systems that drive the majority of X’s revenue. The role requires deep advertising technical and product expertise.
What You'll Do
- Lead the X advertising engineering organization - set the product and technical direction, lead the org, and build our next generation advertising tech stack hands-on
- Leverage all of xAI’s infra and AI stacks to dramatically overhaul our Ad Platform technology stack and the overall advertising experience on X
- Own and operate the technical systems and products driving the majority of X’s revenue.
Who You Are
- 5+ years of hands-on experience designing, building, and operating large-scale, high-throughput distributed advertising systems in a senior technical leadership role
- Deep experience in building large scale and performant advertising systems: ads serving, recommendations, prediction, auction, bidding, marketplace, & experience
- Demonstrated ability to design, build, and launch great advertising products at scale
- Excellent cross-functional collaborations across internal Ads business organizations and other internal stakeholder teams, as well as external ads customers and vendors

Interview Process:
After submitting your application, the team reviews your CV and statement of exceptional work. If your application passes this stage, you will be invited to a 15 minute interview (“phone interview”) during which a member of our team will ask some basic questions. If you clear the initial phone interview, you will enter the main process, which consists of four technical interviews:
- Coding assessment in a language of your choice.
- Systems hands-on: Demonstrate practical skills in a live problem-solving session.
- Project deep-dive: Present your past exceptional work to a small audience.
- Meet and greet with the wider team.
Our goal is to finish the main process within one week. All interviews will be conducted via Google Meet.
Location
The role is based in Palo Alto. Candidates are expected to be located near the Bay Area or open to relocation.
Annual Salary Range
$180,000 - $440,000 USD
