The Role
At Leonardo.Ai, you will play a crucial role in building reusable tools to support our R&D initiatives. You will use your engineering knowledge and best practices to facilitate model architecture, data curation, training and data acquisition projects. Your contributions will be instrumental in the development of our next-gen products and the growth of our company.
What you'll do:
Infrastructure and Workflow Development:
Design and implement reusable modules and tools for AI research projects, including custom workflow prototypes using ComfyUI nodes.
Create and optimise high-performance code, ensuring efficient execution for R&D tasks.
Collaborate with DevOps to integrate AWS services into research tooling using reusable modules.
Data Acquisition:
Implement and maintain automated systems for data collection from websites and online platforms.
Maximise throughput in the ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) pipeline, optimising I/O bandwidth across threads and implementing efficient storage mechanisms.
Manage network configurations, including proxies, SSH, NAT management, and VPNs, to ensure smooth data acquisition processes.
Performance Optimisation:
Optimise existing code and workflows to improve performance and efficiency.
Collaborate with teams to ensure best practices in handling large datasets and efficient data processing.
Collaboration and Independent Work:
Work with geographically dispersed AI Research teams to support ongoing research projects.
Identify opportunities to create and implement reusable tooling for AI research.
Work independently, managing deadlines and delivering high-quality solutions.
Skills we love:
Proficiency in writing and optimising high-performance code. Especially in Python
Experience with AWS services, particularly S3 and using Terraform.
Experience with database management (SQL and NoSQL).
Knowledge of managing headless servers and automation in Bash.
Familiarity with integrating APIs from various providers.
Highly adaptable and comfortable working in a team that requires rapid iteration.
Able to pick up new information quickly and eager to learn when faced with something unfamiliar.
Additional Skills:
Strong understanding of DevOps practices and integrating cloud services.
Proficient in managing network configurations and ensuring efficient data collection processes.

Round 1 - Meet Your Recruiter:
Our Talent team will reach out and arrange a 30-minute video call where you'll cover your experience, skills, and career motivations. You'll also get essential context about the role, the team, and how you can contribute towards our goals.
Round 2 - Craft Interview:
You'll meet some team members to discuss the technical task in more depth, work through some technical questions related to your expertise and cover past projects, experience and career aspirations.
Round 3 - Technical Task:
If you're applying for a technical role, you may be given a short take-home task to assess your skills and approach to problem-solving. This could be a real-life business scenario to unpack, a presentation, a test or a collaboration exercise. (Please note, depending on the role, the order of rounds 2 & 3 are interchangeable)
Round 4 - Values interview:
You'll be able to meet with the Department Head for a short, informal conversation to understand your potential impact, the growth area we can support, and how aligned you are with our values and culture.
