In pursuit of this mission, our Recruiting team is responsible for finding, assessing, and hiring exceptional talent across various fields and specialties. The team acts as consultative and operational partners to our teams across OpenAI and up to our CEO, Sam Altman. We’re an established, collaborative team with a balance of structure, process, and ambitious problems to solve for.

About the Role
As a Business Recruiter, you will play a pivotal role in scaling our business functions, helping to shape the future of OpenAI. You’ll work closely with hiring managers and leaders across various teams, including G&A, Finance, Legal, Workplace and Go To Market, to find and attract top talent. This role requires someone with excellent sourcing skills, a deep understanding of these functional areas, and the ability to manage the end-to-end recruiting process.

Your Responsibilities will include:

  • Own and manage the full recruitment life cycle for G&A, finance, legal, and GTM roles, from sourcing and interviewing to offer negotiation and onboarding.

  • Partner with hiring managers to define role requirements, develop sourcing strategies, and build a pipeline of high-caliber candidates.

  • Source and engage both passive and active candidates through various channels, including networking, social media, job boards, and referrals.

  • Provide an exceptional candidate experience, ensuring timely communication and guidance throughout the interview process.

  • Utilize data and recruiting metrics to drive decisions and improve recruitment processes.

  • Collaborate with the broader recruiting team to share best practices and insights.

  • Stay up-to-date on industry trends and competitive hiring practices to ensure OpenAI remains a top employer of choice.

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Proven experience in full-cycle recruiting, with a strong focus on G&A, finance, legal, and GTM roles.

  • Excellent sourcing skills and the ability to engage and nurture passive candidates.

  • Strong understanding of the unique challenges and requirements for hiring across multiple business functions.

  • Demonstrated success in building relationships with hiring managers and senior leaders to influence hiring decisions.

  • Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and roles simultaneously.

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with a focus on providing a positive candidate and hiring manager experience.

  • Data-driven mindset with a track record of using metrics to drive recruiting decisions.

  • Familiarity with applicant tracking systems (experience with Ashby or similar tools is a plus).
