About the Role
As a Data Engineer, you’ll support designing, building, and maintaining robust ETL pipelines to move, transform, and store data efficiently within our data ecosystem. We are looking for someone who has a deep understanding of transactional databases, Vertica, and advanced SQL, as well as a proven ability to engage with stakeholders to gather and translate business requirements into technical solutions and be passionate about collaborating and delivering great products.
Responsibilities:
ETL Development:
• Design, develop, and optimize ETL pipelines to load data from various sources into Vertica and other data platforms, ensuring efficient and reliable processing.
Data Flow Management:
• Manage the full data lifecycle, from transactional databases to materialized views, maintaining data integrity and accuracy while troubleshooting batch processing and data workflow.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, translate them into technical solutions, and ensure alignment with business goals by asking critical questions
Database Expertise & Advanced SQL and Data Analysis:
• Develop and maintain data models, materialized views, and database structures; optimize database queries and performance for scalability and reliability using advanced SQL techniques.
Tool Integration:
• Build resilient workflows using tools like Apache Airflow and Kafka, and evaluate/implement new technologies to enhance data pipelines and storage.
Quality Assurance:
• Implement robust testing and validation processes, and create monitoring systems to track pipeline performance and ensure data quality and consistent
About You
The essentials:
• 5+ years' experience in data engineering, ETL development, and database management (Vertica, Oracle, transactional databases).
• Advanced proficiency in SQL (query optimization),
• Proficient in Python and Bash scripting.
• Experience with Apache Airflow, Kafka, or similar tools.
• Experience with materialized views for optimized reporting.
• Proven ability to debug complex data workflows and perform large-scale data migrations, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Excellent communication skills; ability to gather requirements from stakeholders and align deliverables with business needs.
Not a must, but a plus:
• Real-time streaming experience, familiarity with visualization tools (e.g., Tableau).
