AMD together we advance_ Datacenter Open Source Firmware Architect The Role: AMD Datacenter Firmware team is currently looking for a highly talented firmware architect who is passionate about open source firmware and would like to be part of our EPYC journey to transform the x86 server market. Our team is dedicated to developing and deploying cutting edge technologies through firmware, such as our advanced chiplet design, the latest silicon process technologies, and our streamlined IO architecture, to build groundbreaking products that seek tomorrow’s challenges in today’s data-driven world. Our team is looking for an energetic architect to lead the mission-critical role of enabling our EPYC designs in the industry, representing firmware in collaboration with SoC architects to develop robust, scalable customer platform BIOS solutions, producing high quality, competitive and innovative server solutions while minimizing time to market and enabling in the open source firmware industry forums. The Person: A successful candidate will employ proven cross-functional leadership, strong customer & partner communication, software methodologies, firmware expertise, deep technical knowledge, and well-honed organizational skills across multiple teams across AMD to ensure on-schedule, defect-free customer BIOS solutions. This will involve providing representing AMD in firmware open source firmware forums as the external face of AMD’s Datacenter firmware design team, while internally proactively managing issues and clearly communicating risks to program leadership. To be successful you must possess the technical proficiency and interpersonal confidence to clearly represent technical design ideas, sophisticated problem descriptions, and innovative solutions with other developers as well as program, customer and validation teams. Key Responsibilities: Communicate the big picture perspective, overseeing the End to End firmware flow and component integration Represent AMD in open source firmware forums such as ACPI, SMBIOS and UEFI forums In-depth UEFI BIOS development experience mandatory and experience with other firmware code bases desired (coreboot, oreboot, uboot, etc.) Experience in server BIOS architecture mandatory Drives collaboration or assumes leadership responsibilities for a specific project or for product development initiatives across the lifecycle of the product, aligned with the needs of our customers, partners and internal teams Work closely with silicon design, platform design, debug and validation to triage, debug and resolve system issues Has accountability for results in a particular area of work. Desire to work and excel in fast-paced and highly dynamic environments Influences others as a technical leader and has strong relationships in firmware industry forums Builds and leverages trusting relationships with stakeholders Preferred Experience: 10+ years experience in BIOS, firmware, or system software development with proven knowledge of x86 system architecture Prior experience leading technical direction as an architect Knowledge of server hardware interfaces (10G/1G Ethernet, SATA, AHCI, DDR3, PCIe Gen1/Gen2/Gen3, SPI, I2C) encouraged Intimate knowledge of PCIe Gen1/Gen2/Gen3, NVMe and PCIe Hotplug, DDR5 Memory preferred Intimate knowledge of software development process methodology expected Knowledge of industry-standard initiatives such as (ACPI, SMBIOS, PCIe) expected Proficient with source version control systems like Git or Github and codereview tools like Gerrit Strong analytical skills and debug methodology required Previous pre-silicon or emulation experience a plus Demonstrated ability to grasp new technical concepts quickly Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills Academic Credentials: BSEE, BSCS, or BSCE degree or higher with 15+ years or MS with 8+ years of experience in firmware development Candidates should enjoy working in a dynamic team environment Location: Austin, TX. #LI-CJ1 At AMD, your base pay is one part of your total rewards package.
