The Global Financial Risk & Controls (“GFRC”) team works to promote strong controllership that supports internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR) designed to provide reasonable assurance that Amazon’s consolidated and statutory financial statements are complete and accurate and in accordance with professional standards. GFRC partners closely with our global customers to identify and properly mitigate key financial reporting and compliance risks to achieve the company’s control objectives. The GFRC team does this by maintaining the overall ICFR framework and supporting the teams responsible for designing, documenting, executing, and periodically assessing their processes, systems, and controls and advocating for the improvement in controls for the overall Amazon ecosystem.

The global accounting organization supports our financial reporting, internal control, intercompany, and transfer pricing activities and also supports new business launches globally for Amazon in the consumer products, digital initiatives, merchant, operations, logistics, payments, and cloud computing lines of business.

The Global Financial Risk and Controls (GFRC) Team oversees internal controls over financial reporting, subsidiary compliance, internal controls readiness, and other enterprise compliance activities. We are a subject matter expertise team that builds, designs, and consults with control owners and business leaders across the enterprise (Accounting, Business, Engineering/IT, HR, etc.). Responsibilities include enhancing and leveraging internal and external partnerships to promote improved control and risk management practice up to and including and enterprise-wide initiatives. This role will require a deep understanding and experience with all aspects of internal controls including financial information technology systems for a complex, high-growth stage, multi-disciplinary organization. Requirements for this position, reporting to the Director of GFRC also include extensive knowledge the COSO 2013 framework, SEC/PCAOB regulations, various ISO frameworks as well as the demonstrated ability to design and monitor an effective global risk-based internal control environment.

We are currently looking for experienced candidates who have held similar positions in large public companies or who have held a similar position within the advisory practice of a Big 4 public accounting firm serving Fortune 500 clients. Demonstrated experience in working collaboratively to accomplish complex challenges will be expected as this is an ongoing requirement for this position. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate they were top performers at their level.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY OBJECTIVES
• Assisting the Director of GFRC in the execution of the overall enterprise-wide controls strategy
• Leading controls design and implementation with engineering, business, and accounting teams
• Leading deep dives on risks related to specific technologies (e.g. Cloud, AI/ML, RPA) or new and emerging businesses or practices to define the set of risk and controls in addressing financial reporting risk
• Assisting in the SOX 404 scoping and planning to address end-to-end financial statement risks
• Advising on and designing controls and compliance programs over IT General Controls, as well as managing end to end data flow risks
• Assisting in the design and enhancements of IT compliance over cloud environment
• Providing ongoing support to process owners/control owners and cross-functional teams to ensure controls are designed and implemented effectively
• Supporting the quarterly 302 sub-certification process and related reporting
• Assisting in the evaluation of identified control deficiencies and monitoring of remediation efforts
