Engineering Manager at Perplexity AI

Perplexity is looking for an engineering manager to join our small team revolutionizing the way people search and interact with the internet. You will be responsible for leading engineering teams across the full product stack.

The Perplexity product team designs, creates, and ships products across the web and mobile experience. Engineers on the product team work end-to-end on infrastructure, backend, and frontend to rapidly deliver new experiences and experiments.

Responsibilities

• Engineering leadership around several layers of a rapidly evolving product.
• Setting standards for reliability, code quality, testing, and maintenance.
• Onboarding and ensuring code quality for a growing team.
• Estimating accurate timelines and measuring success of deliverables.
• Working closely with design and product managers to prioritize and manage scope.
• Setting up processes for reliability and efficient development.

Qualifications

• Ability to design efficient systems and processes.
• Ability to constructively review code and identify tech debt.
• Empathy and the ability to cleanly resolve engineering blockers.
• Organizational skills around managing and delivering parallel technical projects.
• Experience working with multiple small teams of engineers.
• Experience leveraging the right combination of open source and inhouse solutions.
• Familiarity with AI/ML capabilities and limitations.
• 8+ years of engineering experience.
• 4+ years of engineering management experience.

Our cash compensation range for this role is $200,000 - $240,000.
