Field Technician - Robotics

Your New Role and Team 
Sanctuary AI, a world leader in building AI-based control systems for humanoid robots, is looking to hire a skilled and motivated Field Technician. Working closely with our Hardware, Software, AI Engineering, and Product Teams, you’ll gain a comprehensive understanding of the design, architecture, and implementation of our current robotic systems and help shape future versions of our general-purpose robots.

The best candidates for this role are curious, motivated, and excited to gain experience in cutting-edge robotics development. They have excellent mechatronics skills, hands-on experience with debugging and modifying complex mechanisms and optimizing for multiple design goals. Experience working with robotic systems, Linux Operating systems, Python/C++ code, hardware design tools and PCBA rework, is an asset.

You’ll be a valued contributor as you learn how our complex robotic systems work, own and support solutions from execution through to deployment and support, and collaborate with other team members to operate, scale, and maintain Sanctuary’s general purpose robots and build out our Labour-as-a-Service business model.

Our Success Criteria

  • Bring hands-on experience in observing and maintaining robots during operation in production environments, day-to-day mechanical and electrical maintenance 
  • Great customer-oriented attitude; demonstrating in-person engagement with customers
  • Understanding of working with complex electromechanical and software systems, working closely with other engineers to collect and act on diagnostic information 
  • Work with engineers across disciplines to diagnose complex electromechanical and connectivity issues 
  • Build a high-tech career at the forefront of the deployment of our General-Purpose Robots
  • Gain cutting-edge career experience as you maintain our General-Purpose Robot platform onsite

  • Your Experience
    Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechatronics, electrical, mechanical engineering, computer science, or engineering physics; a related technical field or equivalent work experience 
  • Demonstrated experience of working in production / on-site with customers 

  • Skills: 
  • Good debugging and troubleshooting skills, including familiarity working with electrical (multimeter, oscilloscope etc) and mechanical tools and systems  
  • Experience with repairing electro-mechanical assemblies, basic knowledge of fabrication & assembly including reading mechanical drawings, electrical schematic
  • Experience using documentation tools including Confluence, JIRA, GoogleSuite
  • Demonstrated knowledge of configuration-management 
  • Experience with tuning and operating control systems 
  • Excellent documentation skills and on the fly problem solving skills 
  • Clear communication skills, both with customers, management and engineering partners 
  • Some knowledge of robotics is an asset 
  • Ability to read Python/C++ code is an asset
  • Experience with Linux operating systems is an asset
  • Familiarity with CAD software is an asset 
  • Familiarity with PCBA rework is an asset 
  • Familiarity working with electric actuators is an asset
