About the role:
We are looking for a deeply experienced Head of Japan Sales & Partnerships who can build strong, strategic partnerships with Japanese companies and organizations as well as manage and grow our business development and sales team in Japan. You will identify, develop, and close new business opportunities with various industries while adapting quickly to our fast-changing technology and products. This role contains aspects of sales, partnership-building, and marketing. In particular, the selling of licenses for our AI models is important (https://stability.ai/membership).
Essentially, the person must exercise strong leadership to build and lead the Japan office to huge business success.
Responsibilities:
- Hire, mentor, and guide our business professionals and solutions engineers based in Tokyo as a people manager
- Develop and execute lead generation strategies to consistently build a healthy pipeline of potential customers. Collaborate with marketing to create and optimize targeted campaigns that increase brand awareness and attract quality leads. Identify opportunities for upselling and cross-selling to expand the business.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key decision makers and stakeholders at partner organizations including large cloud vendors, system integrators, IT consulting firms, and app developers.
- Co-create solutions with partners based on our AI models and scale sales via channel partners
- Work with our engineers to deliver projects to partners/clients
- Understand and communicate the unique value proposition of our technology to organizations
- Monitor market trends and competitor activities to adjust strategies accordingly and maintain a competitive edge.
- Contribute to both goals: awareness/branding and revenue generation
- Own and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the team's success and continuously improve sales processes.
Qualifications:
- Good communication skills with fluency in Japanese and business-level English proficiency
- Proven experience in partnership-building and sales roles, preferably at tech companies
- 8+ years of experience in managing and growing teams
- Strong existing professional network in Japan, including executives at large enterprises potentially interested in generative AI
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute business strategies
- Experience as the Japan country manager of a foreign company is a plus
- Strong technical knowledge (machine learning, cloud solutions, etc.) is a plus
