As part of this mission, the Treasury team drives the strategic management of our financial resources, playing a pivotal role in supporting our growth, innovation, and operational efficiency.

About the Role

We’re seeking an accomplished Head of Treasury to lead and optimize OpenAI's global treasury operations. This role represents a strategic enhancement of our treasury capabilities; in this position you will be responsible for shaping and executing a comprehensive treasury strategy that supports our current needs and scales with our future growth. You will oversee global cash management, cash forecasting, risk management, and strategic financial initiatives, ensuring that our treasury activities maximize impact and align with our business objectives. This role demands close collaboration with senior leadership, financial institutions, and cross-functional teams to build and sustain a robust treasury framework that supports OpenAI's growth and strategic objectives.

This role is based in San Francisco, CA. We use a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office per week and offer relocation assistance to new employees.

In this role, you will:

Develop and execute a comprehensive treasury strategy that aligns with OpenAI's mission, business objectives, and growth trajectory, laying the foundation for scalable financial operations.
Oversee and enhance our global cash management processes, ensuring continued efficiency and optimization across all international operations and subsidiaries
Partner with Strategic Finance on our short- and long-term cash flow forecasts to analyze variances and continuously refine processes that uphold and enhance financial transparency.
Identify and mitigate financial risks, advancing the security and efficiency of all treasury operations.
Own and maintain OpenAI’s corporate treasury policy, ensuring it aligns with our governing documents and regulatory requirements.
Serve as the primary point of contact with financial institutions, managing banking relationships, advising on global banking partners, and ensuring optimal service and terms across various financial needs.
Develop and execute investment strategies, optimizing returns within a well-defined and balanced risk management framework
Lead and contribute to strategic initiatives that impact OpenAI's finances, providing insights and recommendations to senior leadership on treasury-related matters.
Collaborate with the Controllership to produce accurate and timely quarterly and year-end cash flow statements for financial reporting.

Extensive Leadership Experience: 15+ years of progressive experience in treasury management, finance, or related fields, with significant time spent in leadership roles within high-growth, global organizations.
Strategic Vision and Execution: Proven ability to conceptualize and implement treasury strategies that drive organizational effectiveness and financial stability.
Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of cash management and investment strategies, coupled with experience in developing and implementing corporate treasury policies.
Operational Excellence: Demonstrated success in managing complex financial operations, optimizing cash flow, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and corporate governance requirements.
Exceptional Stakeholder Management: Strong track record of collaborating with C-suite executives, board members, and financial institutions, effectively influencing and aligning diverse stakeholders towards common goals.
Global Compliance Acumen: In-depth knowledge of international financial regulations and governance standards, with experience developing and enforcing compliance strategies across multiple jurisdictions.

Project Management Skills: Ability to lead and contribute to strategic initiatives, providing expert guidance on treasury-related matters.
