Amazon is seeking a creative Editor to ideate, assign, edit, and produce content targeted to internal corporate employees worldwide. This role will work closely with stakeholders across the organization to reframe and optimize Amazon news stories for an internal audience, primarily focused on Amazon Web Services (AWS), Amazon Devices and Services, Gen AI, and related areas. This is a new role on the Internal Corporate Communications team within Global Communications and Community Impact.
The ideal candidate is an experienced journalist or storyteller with excellent writing and editing skills and strong editorial judgment. Previous experience writing content targeted to internal employees on technical topics is highly preferred. This person will manage multiple stories and company news items across multiple teams. They should be able to shape editorial content and strategy using a mix of audience data and innate story judgment. This person should be a pro at shaping stories with a compelling voice and angle and should feel comfortable collaborating with writers across the organization to reframe stories. They will also be responsible for ideating and generating original, compelling stories for our internal audiences, focusing largely around high-priority company initiatives.
This is an individual contributor role reporting into Internal Corporate Communication’s Editor in Chief. Candidates should feel comfortable working with data to understand audience interest and use that to guide editorial strategy. However, they should also embrace innovative storytelling and experiment with new types of content. They should also be an excellent communicator who should be able to galvanize multiple stakeholders — including PR and business leaders — around a successful content approach. The successful candidate will have leadership experience; a proven track record of developing and delivering compelling stories and campaigns with measurable results; and a strong understanding of the current digital content landscape. They should be a strategic, global thinker; goal oriented; and enjoy working in a fast-paced, start-up culture.
Key job responsibilities
• Strategy: Develop and implement the internal editorial content strategy for featured stories in line with company priorities and business goals.
• Execution: Maintain a very high bar for all content published globally to all employees and reinforce editorial standards and best practices across the broader Internal Corporate Communications team.
• Content: Oversee the technology editorial calendar, content, and campaigns tied to key storytelling and news moments and collaborate with employee-facing channel owners, including A to Z (the company intranet), companywide email newsletters, digital screens, and more.
• Partnership: Act as a content thought partner to business comms teams, providing counsel and guidance throughout all stages of editorial planning, execution, and analysis.
• Measurement & Evaluation: Work with channels and insights partners to set content goals and implement cohesive measurement plans to understand program success. Make real-time program adjustments based on results.
• Experiment & Scale: Experiment with story types and topics, develop best practices, and create playbooks and toolkits to make our global work more consistent and efficient.
