As a Lead Engineer, you will serve as the technical and strategic leader for the development and evolution of the Internal Developer Platform (IDP). You will drive the platform's roadmap execution, align it with organizational objectives, and ensure its scalability, reliability, and extensibility. This is a high-impact role requiring technical depth, architectural foresight, and leadership in guiding teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership
  • Define the architecture and long-term vision for the IDP, aligning it with our roadmap and business objectives.
  • Identify gaps in current developer workflows and implement features to enhance engineering efficiency.
  • Champion the adoption of best practices for IDP development and operations.
  • Roadmap Execution
  • Lead the implementation of key roadmap initiatives, such as:
  • Advanced blueprint and entity customization to support complex workflows.
  • Development of a self-service developer portal with end-to-end integration for provisioning and deployment.
  • Automation of repetitive tasks via API, Automation Scripts and Webhook orchestration.
  • Technical Execution
  • Design and implement scalable, event-driven architectures for the IDP using queued systems.
  • Lead the integration of Port IDP with external tools and platforms, ensuring seamless interoperability.
  • Build observability features into the IDP, leveraging tools like Prometheus and Grafana for performance monitoring.
  • Mentorship & Team Enablement
  • Act as a subject matter expert for the IDP platform, developing features and helping the team to resolve their ongoing issues.
  • Foster a culture of technical excellence and collaboration within the platform team.
  • Security, Compliance, and Governance
  • Establish and enforce governance policies for platform access, usage, and modifications.
  • Drive compliance with enterprise security standards, particularly in API and Webhook integrations.
  • Optimization & Scalability
  • Continuously optimize the performance and scalability of the IDP.
  • Evaluate new technologies and frameworks to future-proof the platform.

    Qualifications:

  • 10-12 years in platform engineering, with Hands-on development in large-scale SaaS or cloud environments.
  • Technical Expertise:
  • Deep understanding of IDP and customization capabilities.
  • Proven expertise in API development, event-driven architectures, and queued systems.
  • Strong background in IaC tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Mastery of AWS cloud services and Kubernetes for scalable application deployment.
  • Experience with building developer portals and enabling self-service workflows.
  • Must have hands-on with IDP tools like port, cortex etc
  • Leadership Skills:
  • Proven ability to technically guide the teams and dive into the solving problems and ready for getting their hands dirty.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills for working across functional teams and stakeholders.
