PMTS SYSTEMS DESIGN ENGINEER 

 

THE ROLE: 

We are looking for a dynamic, energetic Lead / Principal Systems Design Engineer to join our growing team. As a key contributor to the success of AMD’s product, you will be part of the fastest growing team within AMD responsible for building GPUs/Accelerated Processors that power the world’s largest systems used for Machine Learning, HPC, and AI. Our customers include some of the biggest names in the industry. The position is Technical Leadership role responsible for leading our validation planning and execution of our next generation ML/AI/HPC products. The work will require interlock with other engineering and business teams including SOC Design/Architecture, FW/SW, and Product Management teams. You will own the SOC bring-up and lead the effort across the organization to validate the product and get it ready for production. Role is cross-functional and requires technical depth/breadth and strong leadership skills. The role will reside in the Datacenter Graphics and Accelerated Computing team. You will report to the Corporate Vice President of Validation. In addition to test planning and execution, we are seeking a technical leader that can also drive change and innovation to our test capabilities including exercisers, stress, system, and other post-silicon test areas. If you like pushing the envelope of what is possible and collaborate across teams to raise the test bar, you will fit into our future goals. We want people who have system knowledge and experience with highly complex SOC/Systems.

 

THE PERSON: 

As a Leader in Systems Design Engineering, you will drive balanced, scalable, and automated solutions. In this high visibility position, your software systems engineering expertise will be necessary towards product development, definition, and root cause resolution. 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Driving technical innovation to improve AMD’s capabilities across validation, test content automation, validation methodology enhancement, and various internal and cross-functional technical initiatives 
  • Debugging issues found during the process, bring-up, validation, and production phases of SOC programs 
  • Working with multiple teams, and tracking test execution to make sure all features are validated and optimized on time 
  • Working closely with supporting technical teams  
  • Engaging in other software/hardware modeling frameworks 
  • Leading collaborative approach with multiple teams 

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 

  • Extensive experience working in Silicon/System hardware validation
  • Strong knowledge of silicon/system test methodologies
  • Prior experience in pre-silicon testing in DV, Emulation/Simulation a plus
  • Experience leading large scale test efforts at a technical and leadership level
  • Experience in developing test strategies based on an understanding of silicon/hardware features
  • Debug techniques and methodologies 
  • Experience with common lab equipment, including protocol/logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, etc.  
  • Extensive experience with board/platform-level debug, including delivery, sequencing, analysis, and optimization 
  • Extensive knowledge of system architecture, technical debug, and validation strategy 
  • Strong analytical/problem-solving skills and pronounced attention to details 
  • Must be a self-starter, and able to independently drive tasks to completion

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: 

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in electrical or computer engineering
