Perplexity is seeking experienced Machine Learning Engineers to make Perplexity’s answer machine feel like it understands users better than they understand themselves. Different queries require different product experiences, and your job is to infer the true intent of a query and help shape the right form of the answer in a delightful way.
Responsibilities
- Continue to improve our query understanding so we provide the optimal experience for every answer.
- Work cross functionally across engineering, data science, and product teams to prioritize the right experiments to run.
- Deliver end-to-end machine learning solution to address critical product challenges.
- Own the full stack machine learning system and optimize algorithms and infrastructure to improve query understanding.
Qualifications
- Proven experience with large-scale LLMs and Deep Learning systems.
- Strong programming skills; versatility is a plus.
- Self-starter with a willingness to take ownership of tasks.
- Passion for tackling challenging problems.
- Minimum of 2 years of working on relevant projects.
Nice-to-have
- PhD in Machine Learning or related areas.
- Experience building distributed systems.
The cash compensation range for this role is $200,000 - $280,000.

Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including, experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed above.
Equity: In addition to the base salary, equity is part of the total compensation package.
