THE ROLE:
As a software development manager, you will lead a team of software engineers in the design, development, optimization of GPU libraries for machine learning workloads as part of the AMD Radeon Open Ecosystem (ROCm). The libraries cover common but critical operations used in AI workloads nowadays.
THE PERSON:
We are looking for a hands-on leader who will be responsible for leading the team, planning software development projects, creation of documentation, and delivering software products for internal as well as external customers. This role also requires that the individual can interact and work with their counterparts globally to ensure effective delivery of the projects.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Deliver software products for internal as well as exteral customers. The role will need to work with global customer directly
- Work closely with senior developers, architects, and stakeholders to develop a long-term strategy and feature backlogs for your libraries and translate that into achievable road maps and project plans in an Agile environment
- Establish a software development process that spans the entire software development life cycle and work with your engineers and key stakeholders from QA, DevOps, and program management to establish and continuously improve that process
- Manage, execute, and report progress against project plans and delivery commitments
- Build and track metrics to proactively drive process improvement
- Hire, mentor and develop software engineers
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Proven leadership skills and a history of delivering software projects
- Extensive hands-on programming experience in C or C++
- nowledge of professional software engineering practices and best practices for the full software development life cycle including requirements elicitation and analysis, scoping/estimation, coding standards, code reviews, version control, build processes, testing, and continuous integration
- Experience managing the day-to-day activities of an engineering team using Agile methods
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience developing GPU-based parallel computing software using HIP, CUDA, or OpenCL is a plus
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
- MS degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Electrical or Computer Engineering
