Own portions of the  engineering development of the vehicle body systems, structural components, and the geometric package of the vehicle and systems, and work with internal teams and external vendors and partners to bring these systems to our next generation vehicle platforms from concept through to production.

• Own the engineering specification, targets, architecture, design, development, schedule, and release of vehicle components, CAD packages, and drawings.
• Work closely with ID to generate creative ideas and conduct feasibility studies resulting in an aesthetic and functional design.
• Assist the efforts of vehicle engineering teams at our OEM partners, and, with our PLM team, the CAD and data exchange with our OEM and supplier partners.
• Work closely with manufacturing as required to bring up production of components.
• Work closely with CAE and test teams to design and execute validation plans.
• Work closely with internal teams to support the development and bring up bucks, mules, and prototypes, support vehicle builds, identify issues and work to achieve best solutions.
• Drive part quality improvements, cost reductions, and efficiency improvements. 
• Communicate technical decisions, development plans, and ongoing issues to management.
• Role may require up to quarter-time travel domestically and internationally.

• We’re looking for a Vehicle CAD Engineer to assist our current vehicle engineers with CAD design and to take on small projects as they learn. 
• We’re looking for a person to creatively drive solutions to the existing issues on P2, P3, T1, and our suppliers as needed.  Committing to good supplier interaction and follow up is required.
• The candidate should possess demonstrated prior mechanical design experience of automotive parts design, with good knowledge of requirements, regulations, material choices, tooling options and assembly methods.

• Prefer 1-3 years of experience in mechanical design, vehicle body systems, and an interest in vehicle mechanical packaging with strong background in functional areas such as Autonomous Sensors, EV Powertrain, Chassis, Structures, Exteriors, Interiors, HV and LV electrical systems and associated design criteria.
• Prefer experience with studio design process and automotive industrial design. 
• Familiarity with the full product development process, from initial concept to production release.
• Familiarity with a wide range of manufacturing processes such as stamping, casting and injection molding. Experience with composites is a plus. 
• Experience designing for a wide range of materials with ability to optimize for cost, weight, strength/durability, and thermals, using both FEA and hand calculations.
• 1+ year industry experience in CAD design required. Experience with NX or CATIA is a plus.
• 1+ year industry experience in drafting and familiarity with GD&T required.
• Self-starter, detail-oriented with strong organizational, multi-tasking, and project management skills. Relentlessly resourceful, with a bias towards action.
• Willing and able to support periodic domestic and international travel.

At Nuro, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. For this position, the reasonably expected base pay range is between $94,050 and $141,550 for the level at which this job has been scoped. Your base pay will depend on several factors, including your experience, qualifications, education, location, and skills. In the event that you are considered for a different level, a higher or lower pay range would apply. This position is also eligible for an annual performance bonus, equity, and a competitive benefits package.
