Inflection AI is a public benefit corporation leveraging our world class large language model to build the first AI platform focused on the needs of the enterprise.
Who we are:
Inflection AI was re-founded in March of 2024 and our leadership team has assembled a team of kind, innovative, and collaborative individuals focused on building enterprise AI solutions. We are an organization passionate about what we are building, enjoy working together and strive to hire people with diverse backgrounds and experience.
Our first product, Pi, provides an empathetic and conversational chatbot. Pi is a public instance of building from our 350B+ frontier model with our sophisticated fine-tuning (10M+ examples), inference, and orchestration platform. We are now focusing on building new systems that directly support the needs of enterprise customers using this same approach.

As a Member of Technical Staff, Research Engineer on our LLM Safety team, you will be a critical force in evaluating and securing the outputs of our large language models. This role is distinctly research/scientist-focused and separate from backend security. Your work will blend advanced fine-tuning methodologies with safety evaluations to develop innovative techniques that detect and mitigate unsafe or harmful responses. You will leverage your expertise—ideally with prior security experience—to build small, targeted models and classifiers that integrate seamlessly into our response modeling pipelines.
This is a good role for you if you:
- Have a strong research background in ML safety and are experienced in evaluating and mitigating risks in LLM outputs.
- Possess a deep understanding of fine-tuning, training, and advanced model evaluation techniques.
- Have prior security experience or a demonstrated understanding of adversarial threats and vulnerability assessment in AI systems.
- Enjoy bridging the gap between machine learning research and practical, production-ready safety solutions.
- Thrive in environments that demand innovative thinking and rigorous evaluation of AI models to ensure ethical and safe outcomes.
Responsibilities include:
- Building small, specialized models to conduct detailed safety evaluations of LLM outputs.
- Developing classifiers to detect unsafe, biased, or harmful responses, and integrating them into our response modeling pipelines.
- Collaborating with fine-tuning and training teams to ensure that safety protocols are embedded within our model development lifecycle.
- Conducting in-depth research on adversarial attacks, model vulnerabilities, and safety enhancements to stay ahead of emerging threats.
- Serving as a key technical leader, driving the innovation and evolution of our LLM safety practices, ensuring our models operate reliably and securely in enterprise settings
