In the Network Engineer role you’ll manage all networking activities (Internet, LAN, dynamic routing, VPNs, Firewalls, Wi-Fi etc.) for all Monks sites around the globe. You will do this as part of a global team and identify yourself with ‘a flexible go-getter who jumps on new opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy and productivity’.
Responsibilities:
- You’ll manage all networking activities (Internet, LAN, dynamic routing, VPNs, Firewalls, Wi-Fi etc.) for all Monks sites around the globe
- As a Monk in our Hilversum Monastery ,You’ll be in charge of the administration of network assets
- You’ll handle the preparation and deployment of network changes
- You’ll automate the operational and maintenance work as much as possible
- You’ll monitor, analyse, and report metrics of network services
The essentials:
- Relevant certifications on network and firewall technology and solutions with a high preference for Fortinet NSE 4, 5, 6, 7 etc.
- Hands-on experience with different Fortinet products, including FortiGates, FortiSwitches, FortiAPs, FortiAnalyzer, FortiManager
- Hands-on experience with wireless networks including Aruba Wireless, FortiAPs, UniFi
- Hands-on experience with Juniper Routers and Switches
- Hands-on experience with fiber optic networks of various speeds
- Deep knowledge on DNS, DHCP, Routing and Routed Protocols (OSPF, BGP)
- Epic network troubleshooting skills
- Excellent documentation skills
- Experience with network monitoring tools (Zabbix & LibreNMS preferable)
- You’re Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
- Ability to learn quickly and share knowledge

- Eligibility to work in the Netherlands
Not a must, but a plus:
- As we are working on implementing FortiAuthenticator, knowledge and experience with that tool could be helpful
- Intermediate Linux experience. Know why things work on a Linux system -- not just how to configure them
- Knowledge on Windows operating systems including Active Directory, Certificate Authority, NPS etc.
- Experience with virtualization
- Write scripts in some administrative language (Python preferable)
