As the Operations Program Manager, you will directly contribute to Perplexity’s data flywheel, and improve our models and product experience through data. You will work closely with the team to build high volume, high quality, and diverse datasets. You will use our in-house suite of data tools to achieve this, and work with us to improve these interfaces. As an Operations Program Manager at Perplexity, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our Large Language Model (LLM) answer engine.
The Operations Program Manager will lead a team of LLM Teachers and is responsible for the success, execution and output of the team. This job entails delivering high quality, diverse datasets for our LLMs, evaluation of LLMs, and identifying ways to use latest technologies and operational efficiencies to improve the data pipeline. You will likely succeed in this job if you are obsessed with data integrity, have strong leadership and communication skills, work well with deadlines, and experience managing a team.
Responsibilities
- Design, manage, and execute plans to modify LLM behavior through data
- Effectively communicate daily project results, overall project analysis, risks and blockers
- Guide large teams to achieve data goals to meet the ML engineering team’s deadlines
- Build projections and project timelines
- Identifying and resolve blockers, which includes prioritizing, adjusting project resources, and working across teams
- Perform supervisory functions like employee development, performance check-ins, and other team leader duties
- Monitor and ensure the quality of the project outputs
Qualifications
- Experience in an operational role managing and motivating a team to reach deadlines and achieve deliverables
- Strong attention to detail and obsession with data accuracy, especially with writing, proofreading, and editing
- Analytical minded with the ability to create rigorous reports and work projections
- Proactive about improving processes, identifying inefficiencies, and proposing solutions to achieve goals more efficiently
- Very strong communication skills and enjoys breaking complicated concepts into clear and concise manner
- Not afraid to get into the details and the nitty gritty to get the job done
- Experience with large scale data collection
- Bachelors degree
The cash compensation range for this role is $100,000 - $130,000.
