AMD together we advance_ THE ROLE: The Patents & Licensing team within the AMD legal department is responsible for the global management of all patent matters within AMD. Working with AMD attorneys, other patent engineers, and paralegals, your significant and broad technical and industry experiences will be brought to bear in analyzing and assessing AMD’s patented technologies. You will be interacting with our senior technologists across the company to assist your understanding of technologies covering AMD’s entire product portfolio of CPUs, GPUs, FPGAs and more. THE PERSON: You bring a sense of curiosity together with a desire to be thorough and precise in your work product. You are an excellent communicator who can help others (less technically inclined than you) understand the underlying patented technology and the value of the patented technology to the products. You also bring with you a desire to work collegially with others, a “pitch-in” approach and an understanding of long-term trends in the industry. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Your Technical expertise will be employed to assess AMD’s patents and their use across the industry. You will be relied upon for particular technologies or portions of AMD’s portfolio and understanding their importance in the ecosystem. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Familiarity with the patent system (in the U.S. and/or elsewhere) A high degree of interest in the intellectual property field is critical. Deep familiarity with several ISAs (e.g., x86, RISC-V, ARM) and an understanding of CPUs, GPUs, FPGAs and various industry standard interfaces (e.g., DDRx, PCI-e, etc.). Semi-conductor industry experience is a plus. Deep understanding of semiconductors, processor architectures and interfaces is key to your success in this role. Your base pay will depend on where your skills, qualifications, experience, and location fit into the hiring range for the position. You may be eligible for incentives based upon your role such as either an annual bonus or sales incentive.
