Product Engineer II – XR & Game Engines

At the Esri R&D Center-Zurich, we lead the development of real-time 3D geospatial platforms and applications. Our multidisciplinary team consists of exceptional software and product engineers, UX designers and architects who love to work in a highly social, collaborative, friendly and fun work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the long-term product and short-term development roadmaps of emerging XR and game engine-based products using Unreal Engine
  • Analyze, test, release and support our products to enhance overall product quality
  • Use your analytical and problem-solving skills to improve development, integration and deployment workflows
  • Manage bugs found through in-house testing as well as those reported by customers
  • Contribute to product software development
  • Create compelling product examples, blogs, articles, documentation and tutorials to showcase new features
  • Establish and define customer requirements; translate them into potential product improvements and new software designs
  • Prepare and present demonstrations, talks and workshops for international conferences
  • Work in a small and dynamic team of people passionate about what they do
  • Help shape the future of urban planning

Requirements

  • 2+ years of professional experience with relevant technology such as computer games, XR applications, geospatial applications and/or design tools
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Passion for quality and detail
  • Know how to break software by finding bugs
  • Bachelor’s degree in geomatics engineering, geography, computer science, or a related field
  • Existing work authorization for Switzerland

Recommended Qualifications

  • Knowledge of computer graphics, Unreal Engine, Unity
  • Knowledge of software development (C++, C#, Java, Python, and more)
  • Experience with testing and CI/CD
  • Experience with XR devices and UX/UI design
  • Familiarity with 3D modeling and animation tools (Maya, Blender, and more)
  • Familiarity with GIS applications and technologies, ideally ArcGIS
  • Experience with web technology such as three.js, WebGL, WebXR
  • Interest in applied AI
  • Strong sense of design
