Mountain View, CA

Snapshot

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Product Manager to lead horizontal data, modeling, and integration efforts across Gemini post-training. You will work with the Post-training team as well as Product Areas to plan, build, and ship state-of-the-art, general-purpose models to products across Google and the third-party ecosystem. This is a rare opportunity to shape the development of the Gemini model series alongside world-class research scientists and engineers.

About us

Artificial Intelligence could be one of humanity’s most useful inventions. At Google DeepMind, we’re a team of scientists, engineers, product managers and more, working together to advance the state of the art in artificial intelligence. We use our technologies for widespread public benefit and scientific discovery, and collaborate with others on critical challenges, ensuring safety and ethics are the highest priority.

The role

As Product Lead for Horizontal Post-training, you will be accountable for the successful development and delivery of state-of-the-art, general-purpose models to products across Google and the third-party ecosystem. You will work at the intersection of model development and real-world use, bringing user needs and research objectives into a single, actionable roadmap. This role requires a deep understanding of data / modeling / eval, the ability to think systematically about how to drive quality improvements, and a knack for bridging different efforts and teams.

Key responsibilities

  • Define the strategic vision and roadmap for horizontal post-training efforts, in collaboration with Research and T/PgM. Drive the tactical plan for model revisions, as well as strategic initiatives that improve both model quality and the overall velocity and effectiveness of the team.
  • Drive the product strategy for the composition of multiple capabilities within a single general-purpose model. Work with Research and DS+E to develop approaches to implementing and measuring / testing how well various features and capabilities compose.
  • Optimize the post-training data flywheel. Develop a deep understanding of the post-training data mixture, and work with Research to develop tooling and best practices for collecting, synthesizing, and cleaning data. Be a champion for horizontal data quality.
  • Serve as a bridge between Post-training and Product Areas. Help capture requirements and loss patterns from teams who are leveraging post-trained models.
  • Work with Research to land major horizontal changes and research bets. Continuously identify opportunities to improve model quality across capabilities.
  • Flex to other strategic initiatives in the Post-training space as needed.
