AMD together we advance_ PROGRAM MANAGER 2 Software Program Manager (BIOS/FW) The Role: As a Software Program Manager for the BIOS/FW function in Embedded Business Unit, you will be responsible for the scoping, scheduling and planning of BIOS and Firmware deliverables for system engineering programs supporting AMD IP and customer system solutions. By managing both internal and external deliverables, you will work to ensure the BIOS/FW components for all embedded new products are delivered on time. This critical and highly visible role provides an excellent growth opportunity for high performing individuals looking to make a difference and deliver a stand-out experience to customers of AMD. The Person: A successful candidate will have the ability to establish and drive to goals including plan of record, timelines, budget, scope, performance, and quality. A candidate must be self-motivated, must have a passion for creating plans and working with a diverse team of creative engineers and senior executives, must be able to deftly manage both internal and external deliverables and ensure all embedded products are delivered on time. The candidate must be a team player with a commitment to meeting deadlines and an aptitude to thrive in a fast paced, multi-tasking environment. Key Responsibilities: Define, plan, and drive schedules for BIOS and FW functional team including both development and validation. Collaborate closely with multiple internal and external stakeholders to drive program planning and execution of multiple complex software development programs. Define cross functional ownership and managing membership and effective performance of the core team. Accountable for BIOS/FW development and validation related deliverables and reports regularly on status, decisions, issues, etc. to Engineering and Business leadership. Manage internal and external engagements. Create, drive and report on team execution metrics. Maintain dashboards on status and risks for projects and deliverables. Data generation/visualization - Generate & report hardware design and test progress vs targets. Support senior management to drive execution excellence, tracking & reporting of key metrics. Assist in developing and implementing project management best practices, tools, templates, and metrics to drive continuous process improvement within engineering. Preferred Experience: Technical background in semiconductor industry with 5 years hands on technical work in BIOS/Firmware domain, 5 years of program management experience and an overall industry experience of 15+ years Deft in planning, scheduling, and tracking of activities for Software/Firmware teams including assessing and monitoring the risks and dependencies closely. Fair idea of the BIOS, Bootloader and firmware components, the flow and interactions and interdependencies Horizontal leadership/Matrix management experience End to End knowledge of Software lifecycle. Handling of cross functional engagements and external vendor engagements. Ability to structure and execute complex analysis, draw insights, and communicate summary findings/recommendations to senior management. Ability to network, build relationships, and drive effective decision-making across multiple functions and levels within the organization. Highly organized, able to prioritize, and juggle multiple work streams to tight deadlines. Flexible working schedule to manage global (Asia and North America) program execution teams. Experience using tools such as JIRA, Confluence, SharePoint, Smartsheet & MS Project Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Academic Credentials: Engineering degree in Computer science / Electrical / Electronics & Communications with 15+ years of industry experience PMP certification is preferred, but not mandatory.
