AMD together we advance_ PROGRAM MANAGER THE ROLE: In this high-profile role, you will be the overall program manager for high-profile Central Methodology & Tools initiatives from concept to execution. You will work across multiple engineering and business units to meet overall initiative and/or product objectives. THE PERSON: The right candidate will have solid knowledge of technical program management, an outstanding track record of program managing a) sophisticated software development projects, b) methodology development and c) process improvement projects. This dynamic role will require a balance of technical and management aptitude along with soft skills. Must possess ability to coordinate and lead activities, influence process changes within peer teams, and have strong analytical skills. Out of box critical thinking and adeptness in simplifying for efficiency is a must. Data driven mindset is needed. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Defines, plans and drives projects and program plans based on management and senior technical guidance Scope technical feasibility of new Projects by clarifying and analyzing requirements with Architects, Technical Leads and Engineers Develop program schedules by considering various dependencies, negotiate and create a staffing plan that supports the schedule Building, creating, and maintaining a well-developed, managed and executed program plan is critical You will establish formal program management artifacts including a plan of record, project/program timelines, resource requirements, scope, performance, and quality KPIs Excellence in resource planning is necessary The successful candidate must also plan for risks in the development path, identify prevention methods, and address them to save on engineering costs Working effectively with stakeholders outside of the Central Methodology & Tools organization as well as external vendors to ensure deliverables are provided that meet or exceed requirements Being comfortable working with senior executives is a hard requirement. You must address the needs and requirements called upon from AMD's Engineering and Business Unit organizations. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Managing strategic initiatives that might extend out over multiple quarters or years that have distinct phases and discrete deliverables over that time Proven Technical/Program Management experience in a dynamic and competitive industry, particularly within Software Development or Engineering based organizations. Experience working in a high-pressure environment and competing priorities and tight turnaround times Analytical, self-motivated, organized, detailed-oriented and results-oriented Good understanding of requirements management, documentation management, and defect management Ability to grasp concepts during discussions and turn minutes into action items Able to communicate concepts and processes with stakeholders Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work well with multiple people and teams, ability to communicate progress to team members on a regular basis Engineering background preferred Experience with Microsoft Project, JIRA, Confluence and Excel is an asset Keen sense of urgency and drive for results Familiarity with front-end chip development, verification flows and/or CAD physical design flows a plus ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, Computer Science or Electrical Engineering PMP Certification is a plus, but not required LOCATION: Austin, TX; remote locations considered #LI-DD3 #LI-REMOTE At AMD, your base pay is one part of your total rewards package.
