Developing data-driven algorithms and systems to help our creators in the Netflix studios produce content effectively and efficiently is an important part of that mission. The Studio Media Algorithms team is at the forefront of algorithmic innovation to enhance and support the creation of movies, TV shows, games, and other multimedia content. This team's work is responsible for unlocking new creative possibilities for storytellers and driving efficiency of the content creation process, ultimately bringing more joy to viewers all over the world. We are looking for a Research Scientist with demonstrated experience in deep machine learning and one or more of computer vision (CV), natural language processing (NLP), and computer graphics (CG) to research and develop algorithms and models to enhance the tools used by content creators throughout the production lifecycle, including visual effects (VFX), animation, and games. In this role, you will:- Design, implement, and evaluate algorithmic solutions for variety of problems in the VFX, animation, and games space, pushing forward the state of the art in CG and CV as needed.
- Developing foundational ML models and methods with one-to-many applications, contributing to our core focus areas in media algorithms.
- Work cross-functionally with engineers, scientists, artists, and product leaders across teams, to help identify and prioritize opportunities and problem requirements.
- Provide input to the design of our AI platform.
- Research experience with a successful track record of delivering quality results and/or academic publications in top ML, CV, CG, or NLP venues.
- Expertise in designing and training deep learning (DL) architectures for media understanding and generation with a broad understanding of DL methods and literature.
- Familiarity with modern computer graphics techniques.
- Deep mathematical skills with knowledge of statistical methods and optimization.
- Extensive experience with DL frameworks such as Tensorflow or PyTorch.
- Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, or C++.
- Great interpersonal skills for collaboration with technical and non-technical partners.
- Advanced degree in Computer Science or related field.
- Cutting-edge work on modern generative methods and their building blocks.
- Domain experience in visual effects, games, or animation, and track record of developing tools/solutions in these (or closely relevant) areas.
- Computer graphics and VFX tools and game engines such as Unreal Engine, Unity, Autodesk Maya, or Nuke.
- 3D vision and reconstruction.
