Meta is seeking Research Interns to join a Reality Labs Research team engaged in exploratory research for novel software development techniques using AI. We are seeking individuals passionate in areas such as Software Architecture, Natural Language Processing, Deep Learning, Compilers, Programming Languages, and Reinforcement Learning. You’ll have the unique opportunity to work with industry-leading researchers and engineers who are defining the future of AR and AI.
Our teams are looking for candidates with expertise and interests such as: machine translation, natural language understanding and generation, language modeling, LLM pretraining, dialogue, code generation, code optimization, compilers, planning, efficient decoding, non-autoregressive methods, and static analysis.
Our internships are twelve (12) to twenty-four (24) weeks long and we have various start dates throughout the year.
- Perform research into novel approaches to software development through code generation at a large scale.
- Idea generation with research mentors, review literature and existing solutions of a challenging real-world research problem.
- Develop novel solutions, implement prototypes, and perform extensive experiments to test the proposed solutions in meaningful benchmarks and metrics, analyze the results and verify the conclusions.
- Present research outcomes to internal and/or external audiences.
- Contribute research that can be applied to Meta product development.
Minimum Qualifications
- Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a PhD degree in the field of Computer Science, Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or relevant technical field.
- Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
- Research and/or work experience in Machine Learning or Deep Learning.
- Experience in Python, C++, or other related languages.
Preferred Qualifications
- Intent to return to a degree-program after the completion of the internship.
- Proven track record of achieving significant results as demonstrated by grants, fellowships, patents, as well as first-authored publications at leading workshops or conferences such as ICML, ICLR, NeurIPS, ACL, EMNLP, POPL, ACM or similar.
- Experience working and communicating cross functionally in a team environment.
- Demonstrated software engineer experience via an internship, work experience, coding competitions, or widely used contributions in open source repositories (e.g. GitHub).
- Experience advancing AI techniques, including contributions to open source libraries and frameworks.
- Experience advancing AI techniques in NLP, Computer Vision, Speech, and/or Machine Learning.

$7,800/month to $11,293/month + benefits
Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
