Responsible AI (RAI) Engineer

 

THE ROLE: 

Our team writes large scale infrastructure and tools in C#, Perl and C++ for Windows and Linux. Our software is used during all stages of product development across multiple AMD sites and includes distributed automation and build processes, web applications and databases to track millions of records generated by thousands of systems. We are constantly adapting our software development processes (e.g. continuous integration, unit testing and TDD, code reviews) to lead the challenges we accept.

 

We are looking for a Responsible AI Engineer to help us assess our use of AI systems for adherence to responsible, ethical and sustainable practices. The ideal candidate will have experience with Source Composition Analysis, system automation and process development. The Responsible AI Engineer will augment the Software Integrity Team and will be responsible for defining, implementing, and monitoring AI guardrails and driving adoption of AI best practices across AMD. An understanding of AI concepts and awareness of different AI enhanced tools is mandatory for this role. Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to read and understand code in multiple languages is highly beneficial.

 

THE PERSON: 

The ideal candidate should be passionate about software engineering and possess leadership skills to drive sophisticated issues to resolution. Able to communicate effectively and work optimally with different teams across AMD.  

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Define, document and champion responsible AI use within AMD
  • Develop AI guardrails to support responsible AI use
  • Evaluate and pilot 3rd party AI-based tooling for use within AMD
  • Enhance existing code scanning processes, including OSS license compliance and security vulnerability scanning to support the safe use of AI
  • Drive scanning process automations and optimizations
  • Perform software audits and generate reports
  • Work with other departments to establish and update formal scanning and compliance process
  • Collaborate closely with development teams to ensure accordance with IP law and OSS licenses 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 

  • An understanding of AI concepts and ethical use of AI
  • Experience with source code and security vulnerabilities scanning software, such as Palamida, Black Duck, Protecode SC, FOSSID, Mend.io, etc.
  • Good knowledge of C++, proven ability to read and understand Java and Python code
  • Working knowledge of scripting languages such as shell scripts and Perl
  • Excellent research and analytical skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: 

  • Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent 
  • Deep understanding of IP licensing principles and open source license compliance
