About the Team
OpenAI Finance is responsible for ensuring the organization is set up for success in pursuit of its mission. OpenAI’s Revenue team works cross-functionally to grow and evolve the Company’s commercial offerings. This team oversees billing operations, deal desk, revenue systems and revenue close, in ensuring the organization’s revenue processes are efficient, accurate, and compliant with relevant laws and regulations.
About the Role
As an experienced Revenue Operations Manager, you will manage our revenue operations team and immerse yourself in the day-to-day operations. You will help shape the structures, processes, and culture around revenue operations for all commercial offerings at OpenAI. You will have a deep understanding of billing systems, revenue operations, processes and metrics, and will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of the Revenue Operations team. You will also work closely with the Deal Desk, GTM and Applied teams at OpenAI, and will be a key player in driving the financial success of the organization by building and scaling a world-class billing function.
This role is based in San Francisco, CA. We use a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office per week and offer relocation assistance to new employees.
In this role, you will:
Oversee and execute on all order management and operational billing processes, ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of customer billing
Review and perform validation for month-end close activities
Partner with cross-functional teams, including Deal Desk, GTM, Applied, Tax and Legal, to identify and execute on opportunities to improve the Order-to-Cash process and customer experience
Partner closely with Revenue Systems and Applied teams to support and iterate on Revenue Operations Systems architecture for new products, including supporting business process and system implementations
Perform and coach Revenue Operations team on User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and validations for billing system updates, ensuring smooth integration with business processes changes
Provide insights to leadership on key operations and initiatives for the Order-to-Cash process
Provide direction, coaching, and leadership for a high-performing billing and offshore team
You might thrive in this role if you have:
5+ years of progressive experience in the Enterprise SaaS/B2B industry, specifically within order management, accounts receivable, and billing operations within a fast-paced, high-growth environment, preferably in public or large pre-IPO companies
3+ years of experience of acting as a manager/mentor to team members, nurturing their professional development and fostering a collaborative, high-performing team environment
Experience managing a diverse, geographically dispersed team
Experience in Order to Cash (OTC) processes for SaaS (subscription and consumption-based businesses)
Contributed in continuous improvement projects within billing operations and order management, accounts receivable, or billing operations with measurable positive results
High proficiency with contracting systems, payment processors, and ERP systems (e.g. Stripe, Netsuite, Ironclad, Salesforce), as well as Microsoft Excel, GSuite, Slack, and Adobe Acrobat
Experience with ad hoc analysis, SQL skills a plus
Exemplary interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
Proven ability to work cross-functionally to solve problems and achieve results
Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field, with an understanding of revenue recognition rules
