About the Role: 

As the engineering leader for the AI Product Integrity team, you will lead a world-class team of engineers in building and owning the platforms and solutions that help protect Stability AI and our customers from misuse of AI. You will bring your knowledge and background to provide technical leadership and help foster a culture of operational excellence while collaborating with program managers, researchers, developers, and all levels of leadership to execute on tactical and strategic goals. The ideal candidate will be a self-directed critical thinker, creative problem solver, and committed team player.  You must be able to roll up your sleeves and work side by side with your team when needed as well as partner effectively cross-functionally and to solve complex problems.

Responsibilities:

• Attract, develop, empower, and retain top technical talent.
• Consult with different stakeholders to deeply understand infrastructure and compute needs, identifying potential solutions to support frontier research and product development
• Deliver cutting-edge, production-grade  AI/ML systems and solutions at scale, built with automated, repeatable processes that solve challenging business problems.
• Take ownership of and drive key architecture decisions around the AI/ML lifecycle (build, test, deploy, and monitor)
• Utilize best-of-breed practices, tools, and cloud solutions
• Set strategy and oversee development of high scale, reliable infrastructure systems
• Manage a team of engineers building world class infrastructure across multiple clouds
• Manage daily team operations, team resource planning, roadmap planning, and delivery.
• Serve as a technical point of contact partnering across the organization..
• Continuously challenge yourself and your team to learn, develop skills, and understand new technologies.
• Communicate effectively with business customers, suppliers, and partners.

Qualifications:  

• 10+ years in Software Engineering, including 5+ years leading engineering teams
• Experience with cloud technologies (AWS, GCP, Azure) preferred.
• Manage a cross-functional product team in creation of SaaS applications
• BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or related technical field (MS or PhD preferred)
• Experience building large language models, cloud AI services and architecting AI solutions (AWS SageMaker, GCP AI Platform, Azure ML)
• A creative approach to problem-solving using the latest AI technology
• Build an empowering engineering culture that delivers high satisfaction and retention rates of key personnel
• Designs clear and measurable performance metrics for the team
• Relevant work experience in software development using Python
• Experience with open-source modeling frameworks (ex. TensorFlow, Keras, PyTorch, Scikit-learn)
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams including data engineers and data scientists to deliver end-to-end solutions
• Experience in production model management
• Knowledge of automated testing and monitoring solutions
• Contributions to open-source projects a plus
