Figure is an AI Robotics company developing a general purpose humanoid. Our Humanoid is designed for corporate tasks targeting labor shortages and jobs that are undesirable or unsafe. We are based in Sunnyvale, CA and require 5 days/week in-office collaboration.
We are looking for a Senior Reliability Test Engineer to design and execute test plans for our humanoid robots and ensure they are meeting our lifetime reliability targets. This person will be responsible for developing test plans, analyzing failures, and providing data-driven recommendations to mechanical engineers.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute reliability tests for actuators, batteries, structures, sensors and full system
- Define our reliability strategy using a data-driven approach
- Author test procedures
- Document failures and work with hardware engineers to design & test improvements
- Lead failure analysis efforts
- Lead DFMEA efforts with hardware engineers to ensure issues are caught before production
- Analyze real world work cycles for the humanoid and design accelerated test plans that correlate to usage
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in test engineering, reliability test, or durability testing
- Bachelor's degree or higher in related field
- Strong knowledge of material properties, failure modes, stress and fatigue failures
- Experience with designing, implementing, and executing test setups for novel components
- Experience with pareto reports, statistical analysis, and weibull distributions
- Experience with some CAD software, ability to design test setups in CAD
- Ability to write code, ability to program automatic test setups
Bonus Qualifications:
- Experience with designing and executing test plans for mobile robots
- Experience with electric motors, various gearboxes, or actuators
- Experience with batteries or battery powered systems
- Experience with CATIA
