Who We Are

Nuro exists to better everyday life through robotics. Founded in 2016, Nuro has spent eight years developing autonomous driving (AD) technology and commercializing AD applications. The Nuro Driver™ is our world-class autonomous driving system that combines AD hardware with our generalized AI-first self-driving software. Built to learn and improve through data, the Nuro Driver™ is one of the few driverless autonomous technologies on public roads today.

Nuro has raised over $2B in capital from Fidelity, Bailie Gifford, T. Rowe Price, Google, and other leading investors. We’ve partnered with some of the world’s most respected brands including Uber, FedEx, Domino’s, Walmart, Kroger, and 7-Eleven.

About the Role

We’re looking for a generalist sensor engineer that can support the evaluation, bring-up, and integration of Autonomous Vehicle sensors in support of launching our next generation sensor platform.  In this role, the candidate needs to be able to understand the data a sensor provides, create novel setups to evaluate unique performance conditions, and then determine key results from collected data. This role also involves hands-on integration and debug of our next generation sensors as we build new platforms. The ideal candidate has a distinct knowledge and experience with automotive lidar and/or camera and function.

About the Work

  • Develop and execute sensor test procedures that replicate real world conditions.
  • Gather and process sensor test data to provide meaningful results on performance.
  • Coordinate with partner teams to support the integration and debug of our next gen sensing platform.
  • Work closely with teammates to support bench and lab level testing of new sensing technologies.
  • Troubleshoot and root cause sensor performance issues both on bench and on car.
  • Coordinate with vendors to root cause sensor hardware and software issues.
  • Develop Python data pipelines for varied sensor data streams.

About You

  • 2+ years of experience working on sensors for robotics or AV applications (sensor development, sensor evaluation, or sensor integration).
  • Ability to read and write Python code.
  • Working knowledge of Lidar, Camera, Radar or Image Processing operational principles.
  • Strong technical communication skills.
  • B.S./M.S Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or other relevant technical area.

Bonus Points

  • Experience in the Autonomous Vehicle or robotics space
