TEAM
Arene's goal is to open vehicle programming to everyone by simplifying vehicle software development and increasing deployment frequency without compromising safety and security. This will create a whole new market of vehicle application developers who, through software, integrate a vehicle into our daily lives in novel ways. Arene aims to significantly improve how vehicles are designed and developed, and we're working closely with Toyota to realize this goal in its next-generation vehicles.
 
The Arene Tools team’s mission is to streamline software delivery and enhance operational speed in the automotive industry by developing innovative test, emulation, and simulation systems. We aim to facilitate quicker software releases and elevate the overall quality of automotive solutions, maintaining an uncompromised commitment to safety.
 
WHAT WE'LL GIVE YOU
This internship offers an opportunity to participate in development of tools that improves production level vehicle software. It will expose you to realistic challenges in the automotive industry as well as knowledge around software defined vehicles.
 
Woven by Toyota internships are structured to ensure you grow both technically and professionally. You will get a chance to work on real projects that affect future key results of our mission, while receiving constant feedback, with clear goals. You'll be supported by mentors and managers throughout your internship. At the end of the internship, you will share the results of your project with the team, and others that may be interested in your work.
 
Responsibilities
      Design and implement tools to measure performance of CAN and Ethernet
      Improve bandwidth and latency across software defined networks
      Create configurable tools and validate microservices through docker based deployment
      Collaborate closely with engineers working on various facets of automotive software
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
      Must be currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Systems, or similar
      Experience working in Linux
      Experience working with Docker and understanding of networking stack
      Development skills in C++ and/or Python
      Applied knowledge and understanding of engineering first principles
      Good written and verbal communication skills
 
NICE TO HAVES
      Knowledge and/or experience working with Bazel
      Ability to breakdown work on your own
      Knowledge of development best practices for large, distributed codebases (ex. system level testing, dependency management)
      Experience utilizing build tools and automation tools, both in CI (ex. Github Actions, Gitlab CI) and local development environments
