AMD together we advance_ THE ROLE: The Product Development Group is looking for dynamic and energetic Software Engineer to join our growing team. As a key contributor to the success of AMD’s IP, you will be part of a leading team to drive and enhance AMD’s abilities to deliver the highest quality, industry leading technologies used for Datacenter, Machine Learning, and High-Performance Computing. This position involves a wide range of activities including high-speed system designs that push the limits of technology, designing and implementing test and characterization circuits in the lab, and debugging complicated system level problems. The team fosters and encourages continuous technical innovation to showcase successes as well as facilitate continuous career development. .  THE PERSON: As a member of the Product Development Group, you will drive balanced, scalable, and automated solutions. In this high visibility position, your software systems engineering expertise will be necessary towards product development, definition, and root cause resolution.  The Systems Design Engineering team fosters and encourages continuous technical innovation to showcase successes as well as facilitate continuous career development. You have excellent technical communication, interpersonal and leadership skills. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Define, develop, and execute the Datacenter GPU pre-silicon and post-silicon PCBA validation test plans and schedule with cross-functional engagement from the various teams Develop platform validation plans and flows while ensuring end to end coverage Develop and implement debug strategies to resolve system level issues Collaborate across multiple disciplines (hardware, firmware, software, and/or data center infrastructure) on design requirements and risks, design reviews , proof of concept projects , assessing system tradeoffs and impact on performance, identifying dependencies for validation and manufacturing tests. Through comprehensive lab work, test new designs to verify compliance to specifications. Set-up and utilize dashboards for tracking execution tasks, issues identified, gaps in relevant processes , proposed design changes and, lessons learned. Work AMD cross-functional team and Contract Manufacturing to drive early-stage process development, DFX reviews, and manufacturing optimization FPGA and CPLD development High-Speed Interface characterization Provide comprehensive yet concise execution and issue updates to management. Expand Validation strategy to cover testing in manufacturing with a focus on component quality and margining PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Proven experience in platform validation that includes SW/FW and test development Experience with high-speed, high-power system design Understanding of the design and analysis of power supplies such as multi phase regulators, as well as power integrity analysis Board level analog and digital circuit design expertise. System design an asset. Power and signal integrity analysis Test automation expertise using Perl/Tcl/Python/LabView CPU/SOC/Micro-controller system architecture expertise Excellent signal integrity analysis and measurement techniques Proficiency with all standard hardware lab equipment including scopes, signal generators, eLoads, protocol analyzers. Identify work around for equipment limitation. Explore new equipment to test evolving design- higher power, higher speeds, new protocols. Proficient at documenting experimental results in a structured manner for ease of reference Experience with hardware, firmware, management firmware, and/or software (system & application stack) interfaces across all modules in a system Ability to use circuit simulations tools such as PSPICE, LTSPICE, and SIMPLIS FPGA and CPLD development knowledge Experience with the low-speed industry standard protocols such as I2C, SPI, I3C, SVI2, SVI3 and for the high-speed industry standard protocols such as PCIe Gen 5. High-speed interface characterization experience Strong analytical, communication and, collaboration skills Experience in Interfacing with diagnostics or testing in manufacturing environment Demonstrated Leadership and mentoring skills ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (preferred) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent LOCATION: Austin, TX #LI-AJ1 At AMD, your base pay is one part of your total rewards package. Your base pay will depend on where your skills, qualifications, experience, and location fit into the hiring range for the position.
