THE ROLE

The AMD Law Department is seeking a highly motivated attorney to support AMD’s Central Engineering Organization and Research & Advanced Development Organization. Reporting to the Director of Legal for the Technology & Engineering Organization, this role operates in a fast-paced, challenging, and rewarding environment. The primary responsibilities include handling technology and intellectual property transactions, providing legal counsel to engineering and R&D teams, developing legal guidelines, and collaborating with attorneys and paralegals to support AMD’s engineering and research functions.

THE PERSON

The ideal candidate is a strategic and business-minded attorney with strong analytical skills and the ability to navigate complex legal issues independently. This individual thrives in a collaborative environment, working seamlessly with internal clients and legal colleagues to balance business and legal considerations. They possess excellent judgment, knowing when to escalate issues and how to offer sound legal guidance that aligns with AMD’s business objectives. With strong verbal and written communication skills, they can effectively convey complex legal concepts to technical and business stakeholders. Organized, efficient, and able to manage competing priorities, they demonstrate the ability to multitask in a dynamic setting. They are also intellectually curious and eager to engage with cutting-edge technology, proactively identifying solutions that support AMD’s engineering and R&D teams.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Draft, negotiate, and provide counsel on technology and intellectual property transactions.
  • Partner closely with engineering and R&D teams to align legal strategies with business and technical objectives.
  • Analyze legal considerations related to artificial intelligence solutions and develop associated legal guidelines.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to internal clients on legal and compliance matters.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders, including Engineering, R&D, and Finance, to support business initiatives.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • Experience as an attorney in both law firm and in-house roles, supporting engineering and business teams.
  • Expertise in technology transactions, AI solutions, and intellectual property law.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, from senior leadership to individual contributors in engineering and R&D.
  • Experience in the semiconductor or computing industry is preferred.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS

  • Juris Doctorate or international equivalent, with admission to practice law in a U.S. state.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or equivalent experience in the semiconductor industry.

LOCATION
