THE ROLE: 

This Staff Finance Analyst role is a high-visibility position within AMD's Finance organization. This role is essential to the success of the business and reports directly to the Sr. Finance Manager. This role reviews financial data and performs strategic analyses and reporting (e.g., profit & loss, balance sheet, cash flow, pricing, etc.) to influence decisions within the business and to drive cross-business initiatives.  Key responsibilities include financial planning and analyses, P&L management, forecasting and planning, monthly and quarterly close execution, strategic ad-hoc initiatives and reporting and process improvements using the latest systems and technologies.

The ideal candidate should have a bias for action, a high sense of collaboration, and the ability make recommendations in a fast-paced environment. Additionally, we are looking for a teammate with leadership experience that will take ownership of the role, drive improvements in execution, and implement standardized work.  

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITES: 

  • Serve as the Global Sales Finance expert supporting Global Channel Sales Organization
  • Perform month-end and quarter end close activities, support reporting and consolidation activities related to pricing/rebates.
  • Accurately forecast pricing discounts and provide business insights and variance analysis.
  • Perform scenario analysis & planning to be used for decision making and approvals (e.g. pricing deals, revenue & gross margin analysis, etc.). 
  • Prepare and deliver executive presentations.
  • Analyze financial impact of customer deals and communicate impact across functional teams to ensure financial goals are met.
  • Perform financial analysis and provide decision analysis support for customer programs and special projects. 
  • Drive continuous improvements in execution by collaborating with Corporate Financial Planning, Accounting, Regional Finance, Legal, and Business Unit Operations 
  • Identify opportunities to leverage technology to solve business problems; drive efficiency through finance processes by automating, simplifying, or eliminating routine work.
  • Prepare and disseminate timely and accurate financial information to allow the business to plan, forecast, and make decisions using controlled and consistent data. 
  • Take full ownership of and accountability for ongoing reports providing validation and supporting documentation to business partners as required. 
  • Identify potential opportunities for operational improvement to existing processes and cadence. 
  • Assist in providing valuable management decision support, driving key business goals, identifying major trends and corresponding business issues. 

PREFFERED EXPERIENCE: 

  • 5-7 years’ experience in Finance/Accounting related roles such as: Corporate Financial Planning & Analysis, Sales Finance, Strategy Finance, Marketing Finance, Business Finance, Accounting and or related Consulting experience
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP principles, and revenue recognition standards under ASC 606
  • Self-starter with excellent interpersonal communication, teaming, and problem-solving skills 
  • Confirmed financial leadership optimal supporting Business leaders in a high growth environment. 
  • Must be able to thrive in a fast-paced dynamic environment. 
  • Robust analytical skills required and the ability to turn sophisticated data and concepts into valuable information to present in a simple/understandable manner. 
  • Hardworking, proactive, and dynamic individual with the ability to work in teams and with all levels of an organization as well as work independently. 
  • Validated experience – preferably in a global fast-paced driven multi-site high-tech environment. 
  • A positive attitude! A desire to work hard, be creative, stay curious, and maintain and a can-do approach.
  • Ability to work influence decisions through use of data, logical reasoning, and the presentation of alternatives.

Preferred skills:        

  • Advanced excel skills, including data modeling and process automation.
  • Advanced technical skills in one or more dynamic scripted language (such as Python, Java, etc.) for performing statistical analyses and/or building and scoring AI/ML models.
  • Preferred knowledge with Power BI or Tableau
  • Strong experience in querying and preprocessing data from structured and/or unstructured databases using query languages such as SQL.
  • Proven experience writing code that is easy to follow, well documented, and commented where necessary to explain logic (high code transparency)

 

CredentialsBachelor's degree or master’s degree in accounting, finance, MIS, computer science, or equivalent preferred.
