We’re searching for a Staff Manufacturing Hardware Test Engineer
The primary objective of this role is to support manufacturing from a test and automation perspective in the development and production of the Aurora’s HW and delivering the benefits of self-driving technology safely, quickly, and broadly. A successful candidate is data-driven, excels at complex problem solving, has a strong engineering background with software and hardware skills, product focused mindset, and can lead cross-functional efforts.

In this role, you will
  • Develop advanced test tools/methods (HW and SW) to automate testing for Aurora HW manufacturing.
  • Maintain and improve software tools used in manufacturing, engineering, and quality verification testing and provisioning.
  • Closely collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, and quality teams to develop test requirements, standards, and product test plans to ensure products will meet requirements.
  • Data management and analysis to track production test performance metrics, prioritize top issues, and drive continuous improvement activities with cross-functional teams.
  • Work on continuous improvement of manufacturing test processes and procedures.
  • Provides technical test support to all manufacturing areas, locations, and customers as needed
Required Qualifications
  • B.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in data collection with electronic test equipment and data-acquisition systems.
  • Prior verification, validation, and testing experience with emphasis on debug skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication of test status and results, including writing formal test reports/records.
  • Ability to read design drawings/wiring schematics.
  • Excellent analytical abilities, technical writing ability and comprehensive understanding of problem solving.
  • Experience programming in Python required.
  • Experience with Linux operating systems.
  • Experience with Google Suite, JIRA, JAMA and GIT.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
Desirable Qualifications
  • M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering (with mechatronics experience), a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience programming in C++ preferred.
  • Experience in LabView.
  • Experience with data aggregation.
  • Familiarity with FMCW LiDAR and/or RF transceivers.
  • Experience with optical system prototyping and characterization.
  • Experience in modern automotive electronics and diagnostic procedures.
  • Ability to travel to company locations in the continental U.S and internationally to CM sites.
The base salary range for this position is $181,000 - $290,000 per year. Aurora’s pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future. The successful candidate will also be eligible for an annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits.
