THE ROLE:
We are looking for a passionate, dedicated, and creative leader who will be responsible for managing, leading, and developing an engineering team that is working for AMD DC GPU Systems Design Engineering team. You will be part of a team to drive and improve AMD’s abilities to deliver the highest quality, industry-leading technologies and AI products to market. Your systems design engineering expertise will be necessary towards product development, validation, and root cause resolution.
THE PERSON:
Strong communication and team-working skills are essential, with a validated ability to lead and influence. Validated experience inspiring change and working across functions and geographies to deliver products to specific critical metrics. The person has a clear passion for our customers winning with AMD products. Showing emotional intelligence while interacting with the customer is fundamental and balancing this with a structured approach to align the customer strategically with AMD business needs is equally critical. He/She routinely satisfies customers’ needs with technical responsiveness. It is also vital for this person to have a passion to grow their technical competency and uphold the culture in the team. Provide technical supervision or mentoring to junior engineers and influence others as a subject matter expert.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Act as “customer inside” to test/validate AMD’s customer enabling collaterals and platform engineering ingredients on internal reference boards and customer platforms.
- Work closely with internal teams across platform engineering, SW/FW/RocM, validation, power and performance, networking, and others to establish validation guidance for customers’ platforms.
- Participating and playing critical role in resource prioritization and task planning
- Providing day-to-day oversight for the team, with specific responsibilities for the feature enablement and validation of various IP for DC GPU products.
- Technical lead role that requires broad system knowledge and the ability to drive technical issues to resolution
- Drive validation planning for each SoC program as well as execution towards program breakthroughs
- Develop strategic direction for validation automation based on team requirements
- Management of a team of system design engineers, including mentoring and providing technical guidance
- Problem solving – the successful candidate loves debugging complex problems and has a track record of doing so. Include experience in debugging Server/DCGPU systems with an emphasis on platform-level debugging.
- Support customer debug in vertical industry solutions through a combination of remote access to solutions infrastructure with representative workloads and hosting in-lab and virtual customer sessions.
- Partner closely with software, firmware and internal engineering teams on Proof of Concept development and testing new, unique, difficult, and differentiator features with customer platforms.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Prior, preferably recent, experience working within the Semiconductor industry blending both engineering expertise with team leadership skills
- Experience with PC architecture, PCIe architecture and microprocessor cores
- Understanding of modern x86 microprocessor, Server platform, Data center GPU architecture is highly desired.
- Test plan and test development experience
- Participated in silicon bring up and debug, support to internal engineering teams
- Debug skills at both SoC and system level
- Familiarity with programming / scripting language (C/C++, Python, Perl, ...)
- Working knowledge of Server OSes (Linux, Windows)
- Forward thinker that drives improvement to development process, automation architecture and fosters a spirit of innovation and continuous improvement.
- A passion for solving tough technical problems will be an added advantage.
- Capable of dealing with a high level of ambiguity.
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
- Excellent communication skills are required in the role of supporting customers.
- Ability to distill complex technical issues into clear, concise, and easily understandable statements for diverse audiences, including non-technical stakeholders and senior management.
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
Bachelor’s or Master’s in computer engineering or computer science or electrical engineering, or comparable disciplines with 10 years+ working experience.
