A successful Systems Development Engineer II joining the team will work closely with Amazon's largest and most demanding government customers to address their specific needs across a full suite of AWS AI/ML services in air-gapped cloud environments. This position requires that the candidate selected must currently possess and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph. The position further requires the candidate to opt into a commensurate clearance for each government agency for which they perform AWS work.

- You design and deliver technology solutions that solve difficult problems related to AI/ML service builds and operations primarily in ADC partitions and regions.
- You identify and solve ambiguous problems, architectural deficiencies, or areas where systems hinder the innovation of other teams.
- You improve the resiliency, cost, performance, business, or customer value of AI/ML systems you own, enabling other builders through your work.
- You collaborate with AI/ML service teams, influencing them to meet shared goals and raise awareness of ADC constraints.
- You contribute to technical project definition, scoping, and prioritization discussions for AI/ML initiatives, working autonomously and seeking direction as needed.
- You identify and mitigate extant risks in AI/ML systems you own, improving engineering and operational processes within your team and other teams.
- You understand and follow ADC policies for information handling, access controls, and compliance requirements within ADC partitions.
- You foster a constructive dialogue with AI/ML customers and partner teams, clearly communicating and seeking professional resolutions.
- You participate in mentoring efforts and lead reviews of architecture, design, operations, and processes for your AI/ML team.

Engineers in this role will work on automation, development, and operations to support AWS AI/ML services for US government customers in isolated, air-gapped cloud environments. They will work in an agile environment, attend daily standup, and collaborate closely with AI/ML teammates. They will work on exciting challenges at scale and tackle unsolved problems.
