AMD together we advance_ THE ROLE:  The Silicon Validation, Infrastructure, and Platform group plays a key role in the development of test systems and hardware for test & characterization of our advanced device families. Our most recent project has been for the ground-breaking Versal Adaptable Computing Acceleration Platform (ACAP), with quad core ARM processing system and programmable logic. We are looking for a dynamic, energetic Lead Systems Design Engineer to join our growing team. As a key contributor to the success of AMD’s product, you will be part of a leading team to drive and improve AMD’s abilities to deliver the highest quality, industry leading technologies to market. The Silicon Validation, Infrastructure, and Platform team fosters and encourages continuous technical innovation to showcase successes as well as facilitate continuous career development.  You will be involved in the silicon life cycle from testing of emulated next-generation RTL through to silicon validation.  You will have a view of the full system but also will become an expert in certain IP down to the register-level.  We are looking for someone who can span the range of able to develop device drivers in software to debug on hardware. THE PERSON:  The ideal candidate possesses a problem-solving mindset with a drive to contribute to both hardware and software technologies. A successful candidate will employ these skills to develop driver-level C code, debug failures across software, hardware, and solutions, and drive these issues to resolution by working with other teams.   KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:  Enhance existing test software for system-level validation and verification of existing and new FPGA features. Work with multiple teams to drive system-level bugs to resolution.  Design, develop, implement, test, and verify systems based on AMD/Xilinx FPGAs with embedded MicroBlaze or ARM processors. Provide feedback on architecture, use cases, IP design, tools, and documentation. Determine design approaches and parameters to build complete systems for emulation, verification, validation and benchmarking of new silicon features at a system level.  Help to develop novel methods for system-level modeling and verification. Driving technical innovation to improve AMD’s capabilities across validation, including tool and script development, technical and procedural methodology enhancement, and various internal and cross-functional technical initiatives Debugging issues found during the process, bring-up, validation, and production phases of SOC programs Leading collaborative approach with multiple teams   PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:  Demonstrated expertise in C programming and scripting skills (e.g. Python). Debug techniques and methodologies   Extensive knowledge of system architecture (e.g. ARM, x86, MicroBlaze), firmware/device driver programming, technical debug, and validation strategy Experience with board/platform-level debug, and common lab equipment, including protocol/logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, etc.  Strong analytical/problem-solving skills and pronounced attention to details Must be a self-starter, and able to independently drive tasks to completion   ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:  Bachelors or Masters degree in electrical or computer engineering LOCATION: San Jose, CA #LI-DW1 #LI-HYBRID At AMD, your base pay is one part of your total rewards package.
