Figure is an AI Robotics company pioneering the development of a general-purpose humanoid designed to address labor shortages and tackle corporate tasks that are undesirable or unsafe. Headquartered in Sunnyvale, CA, our team collaborates on-site five days a week.

We are seeking an experienced Systems Integration Engineer to lead the development and implementation of testing infrastructure for actuation systems, spanning development, validation, and End-of-Line (EOL) testing. This role will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the delivery of robust, high-performance actuation solutions for our humanoid.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and maintenance of highly automated, scalable actuation test systems, collaborating with internal mechanical, electrical, and build teams.
  • Create and implement comprehensive Design Validation test plans for actuation systems.
  • Develop End-of-Line (EOL) test plans for actuators at mass-production scale.
  • Contribute to the design specifications for actuator EOL testing systems.
  • Document integration processes, test plans, and validation results with precision and clarity.
  • Provide training and technical support to team members, fostering solutions that are accessible to less experienced engineers.
  • Acquire in-depth cross-disciplinary knowledge of actuation subsystems to drive ongoing technology development.
  • Conduct testing with a focus on actuation performance, and generate high-quality reports to inform and influence engineering decisions.

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of hands-on experience in dynamic motion control systems and advanced testing systems.
  • Proven expertise in designing control architectures, control synthesis and tuning, system identification, and feedback linearization.
  • Multidisciplinary knowledge spanning controls engineering, mechanical dynamics, systems integration, test development, data processing, and firmware analysis.
  • Exceptional communication and planning skills, with an ability to document and present findings to technical teams effectively.
  • Demonstrated experience in the integration and deployment of new, custom mechatronic systems for real-world applications.
  • Resilient and effective in fast-paced, challenging environments.
  • Competency in hands-on work within a lab setting, alongside strong engineering analysis capabilities.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB, Python, C/C++, and Git.

Bonus Qualifications:

  • Prior experience working robotic manipulators
  • Prior experience working with humanoids
  • Numerical modeling expertise
