THE ROLE:

AMD is unwavering in our dedication to delivering an exceptional customer experience. We understand that ease of use and responsive customer support are essential ingredients in achieving this objective. As a valued member of the technical marketing engineering (TME) team in AMD’s Data Center GPU & Accelerated Processing product management organization, your role is pivotal in shaping and building the entire customer journey, from the very first point of contact through to development and mass production. You are entrusted with the crucial task of ensuring that our customers can hit the ground running, with clear and straightforward information about our products and software at their fingertips. Your contribution will play a vital part in cementing our reputation as a customer-centric company that is committed to excellence at every turn.

 THE PERSON:

We are seeking a Technical Marketing Engineer who will become a subject matter expert (SME) on AI Infrastructure. This role requires deep expertise in AI server clusters, networking, storage, and security reference architectures. You will evangelize AMD Data Center GPU solutions, drive compelling solutions that showcase AMD technology, and promote open-source AI initiatives.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Solution Evangelism: Drive the adoption of AMD Data Center GPU solutions through compelling demonstrations, proving performance, and promoting open-source AI.
  • Infrastructure Expertise: Serve as the SME for AI infrastructure - from system boot processes to multi-tenant environments - covering aspects like CPU/Storage/Networking, Hypervisors, Kubernetes, Slurm, security, telemetry, and ROCm deployment.
  • Content Creation: Develop high-quality, engaging technical content that explains AMD's open-source AI technology, including performance tuning, benchmarking, and optimization guides for GPU clusters.
  • Demonstrations and PoCs: Build repeatable demos and Proof of Concepts (PoCs) that can be used by AMD's field teams, customers, and partners, transitioning these into reference architectures.
  • Customer and Partner Engagement: Drive end customer adoption of AMD GPUs at scale, maintain partner validated reference architectures, and create and publish technical content that enable a faster path to solutions for customer needs.
  • Community and Feedback: Engage directly with end customer and user forums, monitor discussions, respond to technical queries, and provide feedback to product management regarding feature gaps and user requirements.

KEY SUCCESS FACTORS & COMPETENCIES

  • Exhibit a relentless curiosity in technological advancements, coupled with the capacity to distill complex concepts into easy-to-understand communication.
  • Be an exemplary communicator — clear, concise, and engaging — infusing integrity and transparency into all forms of interaction.
  • Harness your passion for education to elucidate, enthrall, and empower your audience, whether it's through writing, problem-solving, or live interaction.
  • Adopt a 'customer-first' ethos, continually striving to not only meet but exceed customer expectations and be proactive in resolving issues to deliver superior service experience.
  • Display proficiency in presenting technical information and feel comfortable stepping into the spotlight in a customer-centric environment, thriving in the dynamic expanse of a large organization.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Extensive experience (5+ years) in designing and optimizing large-scale data center infrastructures, preferably for compute-heavy AI workloads such as inference at scale and training.
  • Demonstrated expertise in performance optimization for GPU-based systems, with a proven track record of managing and scaling server clusters ranging from a few to thousands of GPUs.
  • Proficient in high-performance computing architectures and network configurations tailored for AI applications, including familiarity with technologies such as InfiniBand, RoCE/v2, and high-speed Ethernet solutions.
  • Advanced programming skills in Python & C/C++, with strong capabilities in performance tuning and code optimization to maximize hardware utilization.
  • Deep understanding of machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) and their deployment on large-scale systems using tools like Kubernetes, Slurm, and other orchestration platforms.
  • Knowledgeable in setting up and maintaining secure, efficient, and scalable multi-tenant environments, with experience in implementing comprehensive security measures for data access and authentication.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining technical documentation and guides that cater to a technical audience, ensuring clear communication and effective dissemination of best practices.
  • Familiarity with the latest trends and technologies in data center power and cooling solutions to enhance system performance and efficiency.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering required. MS or PhD a plus.
