Technical Program Manager (Robotics/Software)

Tutor Intelligence is building the technology and processes to let robots go where they’ve never gone before: the average American factory. We understand that general-purpose and generally-intelligent robots are going to be built in our lifetimes, and we’re combining human and artificial intelligence to lead the charge. As an AI software company who deploys its inventions directly into the facilities that need them, on state-of-the-art hardware, every line of code written at Tutor has a direct impact on the global, physical economy.

We are a well-funded 30-person robotics startup spun out of MIT, with a software team working across robotics, machine learning, infrastructure, and systems engineering. We are looking to double that team in the next 6 months, and we're hiring a Technical Program Manager to help us scale.

This is a new, high-impact role reporting directly to company leadership. You will work closely with the software team, hardware and manufacturing leads, and the sales and deployment functions to bring focus, visibility, and coordination to a fast-moving, interdisciplinary engineering org.

You’ll define and drive our software development rhythm—owning project planning, tracking, coordination, and delivery—while also supporting hiring and onboarding processes. You won’t manage engineers directly, but you’ll be a critical part of how engineering work gets prioritized and executed.

This role is ideal for someone with strong instincts (technical + human) and experience managing complex software projects, who prefers enabling engineers over directing them.

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end software delivery process, including sprint planning, backlog grooming, and release coordination
  • Track priorities across multiple projects and surface risks early
  • Align engineering work with business needs by translating product and deployment feedback into scoped, trackable initiatives
  • Maintain clear documentation, timelines, and ownership across the software org
  • Coordinate hiring pipelines, interview processes, and onboarding for new software team members
  • Facilitate communication and alignment between software, hardware, and field operations teams
  • Bring discipline to our project management tools and systems without introducing unnecessary process
  • ,

    Qualifications

  • 3–6 years of experience in technical program management or engineering project management roles
  • Background in software engineering or systems engineering (you’ve written code or worked closely with those who do)
  • Strong track record of delivering complex projects in fast-paced environments
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Comfort working across technical and non-technical teams
  • High attention to detail with an ability to triage and prioritize in ambiguous situations
  • ,

    Bonus Points

  • Experience working in robotics, machine learning, or other multidisciplinary technical domains
  • Prior experience scaling engineering teams (hiring, onboarding, process development)
  • Familiarity with early-stage startup environments
  • Strong writing ability
