THE ROLE:

As a Product Applications Engineer (PAE), the person in this role provides technical support for AMD FPGAs, SoCs, and ACAPs as well as the associated AMD tools, software drivers, and IP. The PAE works with customers, field engineers, marketing and factory engineering groups to rapidly resolve complex technical issues. The PAE enables customers to proceed with their designs and recommends improvements to AMD products. 

This role has a growth path towards becoming an expert with the AMD FPGA Tool flow.

 

THE PERSON:

A successful PAE listens to the customer, discusses debug strategies, works issues to root cause and identifies corrective actions. Excellent written and spoken communications skills, a commitment to teamwork and an ability to multi-task are essential skills. 

 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Provide direct technical support to customers on critical design issues with a focus on Vivado design entry. 
  • Work in a team environment in identifying customer problems and proposing appropriate solutions 
  • Provide customers advice on alternative design techniques and the implementation of alternative solutions 
  • Provide information and data on a variety of AMD products 
  • Provide solutions for specific customer needs 
  • Develop specific tactical projects for key design programs 
  • Generate application notes, reference designs, and answer records 
  • Provide input to product development teams on ease of use and customer needs 

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 

  • Experience with common lab tools like oscilloscopes, logic analyzers and/or in-system debuggers 
  • Experience in RTL and C coding 
  • Experience analyzing simulation or logic analyzer waveforms 
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills 
  • Ability to communicate technical information in an organized and understandable fashion 
  • Good organizational skills with the ability to multitask, prioritize, and track many activities 
  • High initiative and self-starter 
  • People focused approach with a demonstrated concern and desire to work with and assist customers
  • Desire to learn and grow in a fast moving environment 

 

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • BS/MS in CS/CE/EE 

 

LOCATION:  Longmont, Colorado or San Jose, California.
