The RISC-V CPU team owns Tenstorrent CPU IPs. The CPU deploys firmware for several features like Power Management, Survivability and Debug. This position focuses on firmware verification at various levels (from unit to System on Package) and across different platforms (simulation, emulation, and silicon). The candidate will be responsible for defining the firmware verification strategy, test plan development and execution, firmware post-silicon validation, and providing customer support. This role offers an opportunity to gain experience in CPU design and hardware-firmware interactions.
This role is hybrid based in Santa Clara, CA or Austin, TX.
Responsibilities:
- Define firmware verification strategy, considering design maturity, cost-benefit analysis of different verification platforms, and development costs.
- Develop a comprehensive test plan that includes cross-feature validation.
- Design a firmware debugging strategy for verification and post-silicon environments.
- Provide support for customer queries with documentation, firmware APIs, and sample programs.
- Manage test plan execution, including failure resolution, in collaboration with cross-disciplinary teams—hardware design, system engineering, and post-silicon.
- Conduct technical design and code reviews to provide design support and mentor junior engineers.
Experience & Qualifications:
- BS in EE with 9+ years of experience or MS in EE with 7+ years of experience
- Prior experience in firmware verification.
- Experience in at least one functional domain, such as power management, RAS, or post-silicon debugging.
- Familiarity with programming languages like C, C++, and Python.
- Knowledge of verification methods and concepts, including directed random testing, coverage analysis, and monitors.
Soft Skills:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Strong organizational and collaborative skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of any RTOS.
Compensation for all engineers at Tenstorrent ranges from $100k - $500k including base and variable compensation targets. Experience, skills, education, background and location all impact the actual offer made.
