We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join our team. This is a part-time position working 2-3 days per week, offering flexibility and the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment in Sydney. You will report to the Financial Accountant and collaborate with various teams as needed.

Daily Tasks:

  • Process and reconcile financial transactions

  • Assist with bank reconciliations

  • Monitor accounts payable and receivable

  • Maintain and update financial records in Xero

  • Provide support for daily accounting inquiries

  • Ad hoc tasks as assigned

Monthly & Quarterly Tasks:

  • Assist in the preparation of IAS and BAS returns

  • Reconcile monthly accounts and track expense reimbursements

  • Prepare revenue recognition schedules under AASB 15

  • Assist with payroll journal postings and related reporting

  • Calculate and lodge payroll tax

  • Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations

Yearly Tasks:

  • Assist with the year-end close process

  • Assist  with  annual audits

  • Assist with the preparation of financial statements

  • Help with budgeting and forecasting

  • Assist with Income tax return preparation

Key Requirements:

  • 2-3 years of experience in an Assistant Accountant role or similar

  • Qualification as a CA/CPA or currently studying strongly preferred

  • Strong experience with Xero accounting software

  • Familiarity with G-Suite (Google Workspace) is preferred, but not essential

  • Excellent attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to meet deadlines

  • A proactive team player with excellent communication skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to navigate and manage competing priorities
