Description 
As an Account Director at Monks, you play a crucial role in shaping and nurturing our strategic client relationships. You're the bridge between our clients and the agency, ensuring that we align our creative and strategic efforts with their business goals. Your deep understanding of the client's industry, market trends, and strategic priorities makes you a trusted advisor and thought leader. You're not just managing accounts; you're fostering partnerships that drive growth for both Monks and our clients. By staying ahead of industry developments and integrating insights into actionable strategies, you help clients navigate complex market landscapes. Your role is about building strong, lasting relationships and ensuring that Monks remains an indispensable partner in achieving our clients' success.
 

Role & Responsibilities

Managing Key Accounts:

  • Ensure best practices across all client engagements and project management.
  • Build and sustain relationships with senior-level clients, becoming their trusted advisor throughout the customer journey.
  • Regular communication and liaison with clients at a senior level, understanding their businesses and needs.
  • Pitch fresh and innovative ideas to clients.
  • Inspire the team to think differently, take risks, and strive for more effective results.
  • Serve as the trusted voice of the consumer by integrating customer and marketplace insights into digital strategies and programs.
  • Ensure that strategies align with overall brand and company goals.

Client Focus & Business Insights:

  • Lead cross-capability teams to deliver and sell strategic excellence, creative thinking, and powerful ideas that meet client objectives.
  • Understand digital and non-digital marketing channels and complex integration mechanics.
  • Identify and assess client’s business challenges, modeling big-picture thinking around holistic client business goals.
  • Understand the client's business to assess opportunities and align agency efforts on the client's overall business goals.

Communication & Relations:

  • Lead customer insights and branding in client teams, peer groups, and internal meetings.
  • Work to create a team “mission” beyond the individual outcome of a given project.
  • Own relationships with clients, other agencies, and partners.

Trends & Innovations:

  • Inspire the team and clients with recent digital and integrated trends and developments in our business.

New Business / Account Growth:

  • Identify and set up opportunities, managing revenue forecasts from SOW to PO.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Clients Germany to identify business and revenue growth opportunities with existing clients and plan measurable strategies for steady account growth.

Financial Responsibilities:

  • Negotiate and agree on final budgets, ensuring a healthy start margin in liaison with your delivery partner (project manager); secure contractual agreements (MSA, SOW, CR).
  • Monitor the impact of projects on account P&L.
  • Perform strategic account planning to decide on possible investments to grow accounts.
  • Ensure key accounts are run profitably and that the team fully understands all business objectives.
  • Regularly evaluate the success of marketing efforts and optimize strategies as needed.

Quality:

  • Ensure quality meets the client's expectations.

 

Qualifications & Requirements
  • 5-7 years of experience in client servicing, with 1-2 years leading an account.
  • Experience in leading, managing, and developing a team, with some years working in agencies (creative/digital/design) or an industry-relevant start-up.
  • Proficient in German and English at the highest professional level.
  • Extensive experience writing proposals and can propose solutions from either a basic technical or a creative/commercial perspective.
  • Strong background in digital (design and build, not just campaigns) – good understanding of AI, websites, apps, UX, technology, and can sell your expertise.
  • Confident in managing digital production projects in a fast-paced environment, with backing from senior producers and tech directors.
  • Ability to manage relationships and grasp technology to help scope and propose target-driving quotes and timings.
  • Ability to look beyond the day-to-day needs of assigned accounts, ensuring long-term stability and growth of relationships and revenue.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and see the bigger picture within the whole team.
  • Strategic mindset and presentation skills, ability to sell Monks by showcasing cases, capabilities, and culture to (potential) partners at every turn.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, driven by business performance and motivated by growth, looking for and pursuing new business opportunities.
